2010 Pro Bowl to be played in Dolphin Stadium

2010 Pro Bowl to be played in Dolphin Stadium

The Pro Bowl will not only change location but also scheduling. This is the first time since 1979 that the NFL’s All-Star game will not be played in Honolulu.  Moving to Dolphins Stadium, it will also be played a week before the Super Bowl rather than the week after.  Not since 1967 in LA has a Pro Bowl and Super Bowl been played in the same city.  The league hopes that by making these changes, the game will grow more popular among fans.  Future consideration for the game includes rotating years between playing in Hawaii and on the mainland.  The Pro Bowl is scheduled for 1/31/10 at 9pm CST.

Don’t wait until 2010 for NFL action in person!  Catch the NFL Playoffs, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl this year.

Sequel to ‘Phantom’ to debut next year

phantomAndrew Lloyd Webber’s popular musical Phantom of the Opera was based on the French novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux.  The famed composer transformed the story into an international theatre sensation running on Broadway for over two decades.

Webber plans to continue the story of the Phantom and his long lost love against a Brooklyn backdrop in Phantom: Love Never Dies.  In the new play, Christine will reunite with the Phantom character on Coney Island.  Though details of the cast have yet to be released, Webber hints at a big surprise in the lead role.  His sequel will make a historic splash with simultaneous openings in Shanghai, New York and London in 2009.

Missouri claims the title of the 2008 Alamo Bowl

by admin on December 31, 2008

Missouri claims the title of the 2008 Alamo Bowl

Missouri clenched a win over Northwestern in overtime  for the 2008 Alamo Bowl last night.  This was only the second Alamo Bowl in History that overtime has needed to be used and delivered a 30-23 win for the Tigers.  The overtime was a result of Missouri’s kicker Jeff Wolfert missing the game-winning field goal as time elapsed in the fourth quarter.  Although, before than important kick was missed Wolfert was a hero for kicking a 37-yarder to tie the game with 2:49 remaining in the 4th.  Missouri finally gripped the win after Jeremy Maclin, an All-American, caught a 7-yard pass from Chase Daniels to deliver an ultimate 30-23 victory.

2008-2009 NFL Playoff Matchups are set

by admin on December 31, 2008

2008-2009 NFL Playoff Matchups are set

The final Sunday in the 2008 NFL regular-season finally cleared up the playoff picture.  The Bears, Broncos, Bucs, Cowboys, Jets and Patriots are all going home.  While the Chargers, Dolphins, Eagles and Vikings are moving on to play this weekend in Wild Card round NFL playoff games.

If you turned back the clocks to August I think most experts would be shocked if you told them both the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots would miss the playoffs.  Many had those two teams squaring off in the 2009 Superbowl in Tampa on February 1st.  But the Patriots battled injuries all season and the Cowboys battled themselves, and both of them saw their playoff hopes exstinguished on the final day of the regular season.

The teams that are in the 2008-2009 NFL Playoffs are:
AFC:
Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.

NFC: Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings.

Wildcard Games (January 3rd & 4th, 2009):
Falcons at Cardinals (Sat)
Colts at Chargers (Sat)
Ravens at Dolphins (Sun)
Eagles at Vikings (Sun)

Divisional Games (January 10th & 11th, 2009):
Titans vs TBD (Sat)
Panthers vs TBD (Sat)
Steelers vs TBD (Sun)
NY Giants vs TBD (Sun)

Visit the TicketCity NFL playoff page for more information or to buy NFL Playoff tickets.

The Nutcracker is a must see event during the holidays!

The Nutcracker is a must see event during the holidays!

The Nutcracker

From holiday parties to retail stores, the music of The Nutcracker is a part of every holiday playlist.  For many, the recognizable tunes simply signify the holidays have arrived.  For others, for those lucky enough to see the ballet in person, its songs are a reminder of the magic the holiday season invokes.  The ballet is simply beautiful.  On stage, heart-warming scenes transform into magical worlds as skilled dancers tell the story of a little girl’s journey.  Dancers adorn rich velvety costumes trimmed in glitter and glitz while gracefully defying all physical limitations.  To hear the music live is incredible.  With powerful choruses and enchanting melodies, the symphony guides the dancers across the stage while keeping the audience in silent awe.  A tradition across the world, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker is a beautiful ballet sure to put you in the holiday spirit.

From the New York City Ballet to the Austin Ballet, I’ve had the opportunity to see various companies perform The Nutcracker.  Each company adds a unique signature to the performance making it unforgettable every time.  It’s the perfect show for a family outing.  Check out our theatre page to find tickets to The Nutcracker near you!
